Nigerian meals consists of various dishes from hundreds of ethic groups in Nigeria and similar to other west African cuisines, Nigerian meals typically consists of spices, herbs, palm or groundnut oil which are used for deep flavored soups, and sauces lavish with assorted meats.
Meats are most eaten largely in Nigeria, while fish is eaten to a great extent as well. However meats are eaten in varieties such as street food roadside snacks popularly known as Suya , Kilishi (Nigerian Beef Jerky), and Bush-meat. these are popularly garnished with hot chili and spice, paired with vegetables such as sliced onions and tomatoes. Nigerian soups are majorly cooked with meats, and the five most common meat dishes in Nigeria are Nkwobi, Peppered ponmo, spicy Beef, Chicken and turkey. It is good to know that the chicken pepper soup is west African version of chicken soup.
Depending on your preferences there are Nigerian meals for everyone as Nigerian meals also consist of myriad delicacies, and the ultimate food list in Nigerian restaurants are ranges of conventional meals, such that are high in carbs which includes dumplings, solid staples fufu, pounded yam, amala and staples like cassava. plantain, yam, coco-yam, millet, maize, beans, and boiled rice; usually served with varieties of soups like okra, vegetable and egunsi.
JOLLOF RICE
Rice is no doubt most popular food in Nigeria secondary to Garri and moimoi. Rice are cooked in different types and flavors like fried rice, coconut rice, ofada rice, rice and stew, However Jollof rice is eaten in every part of the country and usually paired with spicy roasted chicken. Which is also a common meal with west Africans.
Jollof rice is made with rice, tomatoes, tomato paste, onions, scotch bonnet peppers, bell peppers and spices. it is full of flavors and it is a classical dish with several African region variations, therefore if you want to take your taste buds on a spectacular journey, you cannot go wrong with Jollof rice.
